Remote Start on the 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500: Which Trims Have It and Which Need the Package

Remote start sits high on the wish list for pickup buyers heading into the colder months. On the 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, how you get it depends on the trim you choose.

Most trims include remote start as standard, the LT offers it through the Remote Start Package, and the Work Truck does not offer it. This guide sorts the lineup into those three groups and helps you decide whether the LT with the package is the right fit for you.

Group 1: Remote Start Comes Standard

Seven of the nine 2026 Silverado 1500 trims include remote start with no extra package. They cover a wide range of needs, from value-focused trucks to the off-road ZR2 and the premium High Country.

The cold-weather extras vary within this group.

The Custom and Custom Trail Boss pair remote start with Remote Keyless Entry and push-button start, while heated front seats and a heated steering wheel are not offered. From the LT Trail Boss upward, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel and Keyless Open and Start are standard.

  • Custom and Custom Trail Boss: remote start, no heated seats or heated wheel
  • LT Trail Boss and RST: remote start plus heated front seats and heated wheel
  • LTZ, High Country and ZR2: remote start, heated front seats and heated wheel, plus heated rear seats available on LTZ and standard on High Country and ZR2

Group 2: The LT and the Remote Start Package

The LT is the one trim where remote start is a choice. It comes through the Remote Start Package, which is available across every LT configuration, from the Double Cab 2WD to the Crew Cab 4WD.

The LT already includes heated driver and front outboard passenger seats, a heated steering wheel and Keyless Open and Start as standard. Adding the Remote Start Package lets you warm the cab before you head out, so the heated seats and wheel are ready to go when you climb in.

Is the Remote Start Package Worth Adding?

The LT is a natural fit for buyers who want heated comfort without moving to the LT Trail Boss or RST. Here is how to think about the package:

  • Add it if you park outside, leave early in the morning or drive in cold weather for a good part of the year. A cab that is already warm when you climb in makes every cold start easier.
  • Add it if you plan to keep the truck for many years, since remote start is a feature you will use every winter.
  • Consider the LT Trail Boss or RST instead if you also want remote start included as standard alongside a lifted off-road look or a sportier design.

The LT also offers Universal Home Remote as an available feature, so you can pair a warm cab with garage door control from the driver’s seat.

Group 3: Work Truck

The Work Truck is designed for fleets and job sites. It includes Remote Keyless Entry and push-button start, while remote start is not offered. Buyers who want remote start at the lowest step of the lineup should look at the Custom.

Choosing Your Remote Start Silverado

If you want remote start at the most accessible trim level, the Custom includes it as standard. If heated seats matter as much as remote start, the LT with the Remote Start Package or the LT Trail Boss and RST with everything standard are the best places to start.
